Swami Vivekananda Planetarium (India)

It is the first and most advanced 3D 8K planetarium in India, newly opened in Mangalore in Karnataka province in the southwest of India. It has a hybrid system with MEGASTAR-IIA and “Digistar 6” (Evans & Sutherland, USA) It belongs to the Science Centre located within the vast Pilikula Nisargadhama (Pilikula natural area) covering about 1.5 million square meters including botanical gardens, zoos, aquariums, local villages, and so on. It features the powerful 3D image by Evans & Sutherland and the contrast of the dense starry sky with optical MEGASTAR-IIA. It was introduced in various media in India and became a very significant topic.

The opening ceremony held on March 1, 2018 was very magnificent, with many participants including Karnataka State Minister for Planning, Statistics and Science and Technology, mayor of Mangalore, politicians, general citizens.
