The first MEGASTAR installation in the Middle East. It was newly established in the spacious facilities of Sharjah University under the vision of HE Prof. Hamid Al-Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, and Director General of the Academy. A planetarium with a golden dome resembling the sun and surrounded by beautiful gardens that resemble the solar system, it is a landmark of space education in the Middle East.
It reopened in May 2023 with an upgraded digital system. It is a hybrid configuration of the optical MEGASTAR-IIA and the digital space simulator UNIVIEW (Zeiss), projecting beautiful state-of-the-art space images.
The opening ceremony in 2015 and the reopening ceremony in 2023 were attended by HIS HIGHNESS SHEIKH DR. SULTAN BIN MOHAMMED ALQASIMI, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Sharjah.
