Kawasaki Municipal Science Museum (Science Museum for the Youth)

This is the place where Takayuki Ohira first visited a planetarium in childhood and where is the origin of his creation. He was fascinated by the mechanism of the planetarium and dreamed of building it by himself.

In 2004, MEGASTAR-II was installed. In April 2012, the old building was demolished, and new 18m dome planetarium was built. MEGASTAR-III FUSION, a new concept for planetarium was installed to show outstandingly beautiful sky by FUSION system, but not hybrid system. Optical star projectors and high-resolution digital projectors together combine seamlessly. The installation features full optical system (MEGASTAR-III FUSION, planets, Sun and Moon) with twilight and skylight projectors, cove lights. This in the only place where you can see MEGASTAR-III FUSION.

Two digital planetarium systems are installed, Stella Dome Pro and Uniview. Both are integrated and synchronized with the MEGASTAR full functional control panel. They have both digital and analogue consoles.
